Philips manufactures a line of displays specifically aimed at digital signage.
These displays are powered by Android under the hood, so our Android app works well on these devices.
To install the Lumicast Player on a Philips Signage display, follow these steps.
Select the right source
Press SOURCES on your remote, then select Custom.
Enable downloading from unknown sources
To download an unknown app onto your display, you must allow doing so.
Press HOME and then 1888
You will see a menu. This is the admin menu. Go to Settings > Security and enable Unknown sources.
Download and install the app
Go back to the menu on the display and click on Apps.
- First go to the downloads page on Lumicast and find the latest version of the Android player. This is for example 1.1.1-direct.apk.
- Then on your Android device, open a webbrowser app and go to https://cdn.lumicast.media/android/apk/<version .apk>. This will start a download of the APK file.
The best browser is most often Chromium. You can connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the display for easier input.
- Once the APK is downloaded, click to open it. It will ask you if you want to install the app. Proceed with the installation, then open the app.
Enable auto start
Press the OK/enter button on your remote, then click on โLaunch on bootโ to enable it. It may ask you to give the permission to draw over other apps โ this is needed for auto start to work.
Set Lumicast as your default signage app
Press HOME and then 1888
Go to Settings > Signage Display > Source Settings and select Custom app. Here you can select the Lumicast Player app. Also enable Force restart custom app.
